Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and government restrictions, all after school Good News Clubs are cancelled for the rest of the 2019-2020 school year. We regret that GNC has had to end so abruptly, but fortunately CEFUSA has provided excellent resources that can be shared with Good News Club children!
Weekly Good News Club on U-NITE
A 30-minute Good News Club will be posted weekly to the U-NITE YouTube channel for kids: www.youtube.com/unitekids. Simply click the link to watch. You can email this link to the parents of your GNC students and encourage them to watch it. The videos are in the public domain, so you can even share it with children not enrolled in Good News Club.
The video will be newly recorded and presented live by a team of GNC teachers. The 30-minute videos are shorter than a normal GNC. The Club includes a Bible lesson, song, memory verse and cliff-hanger mission story inviting children back next week. Links to memory verse tokens and quiet time sheets will be posted with each video. For counseling, the GNC team will refer to a presentation of the Wordless Book that will be included in each week's playlist for GNC.
The 10-week curriculum:
- 1st lesson series: "Jesus: God Who Cares for People" Lessons 1-5 with missionary story, "Ravi Zacharias."
- After lesson two, pause for the Easter lesson, “Jesus Gives Life and Hope!”
- 2nd lesson series: to be determined.
The Mailbox Club
The Mailbox Club is a mail correspondence program for children ages 4-12. Children can receive free Bible lessons in the mail from a ministry based in Valdosta, Georgia. The Mailbox Club was started in 1965. You can email parents the link to the Mailbox Club website where they can register their child/ren for the program. It is free. The link to the registration form is http://mailboxclub.net/index.php/lesson-signup-children-4-12.
- The mobile-friendly sign up form is at this link: https://www.mailboxclub.net/mobile/signup/.
- The Mailbox Club also offers free lessons/worksheets for children to read: https://www.mailboxclubonline.org/lf/homepageTMC.php.
- Note: be sure to tell parents to use the sign up code CEFSCCOLUMBIA. This will allow The Mailbox Club to identify which students are from our CEF District.
Follow-Up Ideas From CEFUSA:
Keep in touch with children through emails, postal service, phone calls. Always work through the parent when making contact. Send digital or hard copies of quiet time sheets and verse tokens. Send Wonder Devotional books in the mail, or pages from them. Free Truth Chasers Club lessons are available from CEF Press, while supplies last. These are lessons that have had the postage permit and return address inked out. (Email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.) Other Truth Chasers Club lessons are available for purchase from CEF Press.
If you have any questions about using CEF materials during this situation, please contact our office first for permission at (803) 798-4405. Our national office has asked us to request permission since the materials are copyrighted.
